Humans live in the world called Assiah, and Demons live in the world called Gehenna. These to dimensions are never meant to interfere with each other, but the only way to travel between them is possession. Satan, who is the ruler of Gehenna, who remains imprisoned in the realm because he can’t find a suitable host to possess. In an attempt to conquer the human world Assiah, Satan sends his son to grow into a vessel capable of possession by the Demon King.
Rin Okumura who seems to like just an ordinary teenager, along with his brother, Yukio Okumura, has been raised by Father Shiro Fujimoto. One day, Rin is ambushed by a group of Demons, that’s when he learns that he and his brother are Satan’s sons, and his Demon father wants him to return so they can conquer Assiah together. Witnessing his foster father risking his hown life to protect Rin from the demons, so to avenge his father’s death and prove to himself, he begins to train to learn how to be an Exorcist so he can fight to defend Assiah along side with his brother Yukio.

In the twon True Cross Academy, everyone is preparing for a festival that takes place once every 11 years. A “Phantom Train” goes out of control while the barriers that’s protecting the town is being repaired. Rin, Yukio, and Shiemi have been sent to defeat the Phantom Train. With all the chaos going on, Rin meets a demon who took the form of a young boy that has a mysterious connection to the festival. Cheng-Liu, a Senior Exorcist, from the Taiwan Branch ends up joining Shura in the repair operation and the story takes an unexpected turn as their fates crosses their path.
