           The series follows the exciting adventures of a 12 year old seventh grader Misaki Suzuhara, who becomes fascinated by Angelic Layer, which is a battling game using electronic dolls called angels, the moment she encounters it upon her arrival in Tokyo. Identifying with both the Angels' small stature and their uncanny ability to persevere against unfathomable odds. Misaki eagerly enters into the world of Angelic Layer by creating Hikaru, an Angel of her very own, with the help of the often misunderstood but awesomely cool Icchan. While being new at this, Misaki shows advance skills already, as she makes new friends and enters the Angelic Layer tournaments.

           Note: Angelic Layer supposedly takes place in the same universe as Chobits.
