           The story takes place in the 19th century in China. In this era, of "The Era of the Cooking Wars," all the top chefs who have different cooking styles tries their best to improve their cooking skills and become the best chef in China. Also, in this country if you insult a high-grade chef; or if you fool around with cooking, you could go to jail for it. The chefs compete against each other to gain respect and even power, but also with risks of losing everything. The country of China has four major regions: Beijing, Szechuan, Shanghai, and Guangdong. Mao’s mother, Pai, who was called the 'Fairy of Cuisine' had passed away. Mao decided to become a Super Chef to take the title as Master Chef of his mother's restaurant. Before he takes his mother's place, he continues to travel around China to learn more ways of cooking, in the hopes of becoming a legendary chef, just like his mother was. During his journey, he meets new friends and meets some rivals who wish to challenge him in the field of cooking.
